House
Although the roofline and the placement of the windows are very similar to the
original front part of my grandparents' house, I am pretty sure this is not their
house. The second-storey window in front is a slightly different shape and there
is an entire front-porch that is not present in the early photos of the house and
of which there is no trace now of ever having existed. (See the modern picture
at the bottom of the page and also the other
older photo of the house here.) My father thinks this
may be a relative's house in Wisconsin. Jim Puppe thinks it may be Art Redmann's
place. (Art's brother Carl married one of my grandfather's sisters and lived not
too far from my grandparent's place.) Probably it is now impossible
to ever find out for sure whose home this was.
For reference, here is the present-day (2001) appearance of the front of my
grandparents' house, now occupied only by their son Vernie (Werner).
