Charlie Kirk

Charlie Kirk was an American Apollos. He was strong in the Law of God, fervent in spirit, and bold in speech; but he needed a modern Aquila and Priscilla to expound to him the way of the Lord more perfectly (see Acts 18). He was not strong in the Gospel. Though he preached the need for Christ, he preached Christ in the modern Evangelical/revivalistic sense, which confuses the Gospel with the Law in various ways. After one is converted to faith, the revivalistic gospel leads one into moralism and works based on what we do for God instead of on what God has given us freely in Christ. The revivalistic gospel misses the grace of God and the peace of Christ and so over time leads to hypocrisy and burn out. Honoring Charlie Kirk as a Christian martyr should not blind us to the flaws in his Christian message.
